Report: NFL Fines Rex Ryan $75,000 for Use of Profanity Toward Fan

The NFL has fined New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan $75,000 for using an obscenity toward a fan in a Week 10 loss to the New England Patriots, according to a tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The sometimes controversial head coach allegedly responded to a New England Patriots fan in the stands who reportedly told Ryan that Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was “better than him.” Ryan has been accused of responding with an expletive while on his way into the locker room.

“I obviously, you know, made a mistake,” Ryan said to the media last Monday. “I was full of emotion and just popped off, and obviously I know I represent the National Football League and I know I represent the Jets.  I know it was a mistake and I apologize.  This is who I am.  I made a mistake.”
