Flames, Brent Sutter Part Ways

The Calgary Flames and head coach Brent Sutter have decided to part ways, according to NHL.com. The deal was reportedly mutual.

"The Calgary Flames and Brent Sutter have come to a mutual agreement that we are parting ways," general manager Jay Feaster during Thursday. "I want to thank Brent Sutter for his loyal and dedicated service to this organization."

Sutter, who compiled a record of 118-90-38, spent three seasons as coach of the Flames, missing the playoffs each year. His contract was due to expire in June.

"It's not an easy day," said Feaster. "It's beyond just the fact that we're both on the page that we need youth and enthusiasm and all those things.
