The University of South Florida won't have Notre Dame transfer Aaron Lynch playing on the defensive line this season.

USF coach Skip Holtz said Lynch, a defensive end, will sit out this season after his NCAA waiver for immediate eligibility was denied.

Lynch played in 12 Notre Dame games as a freshman, starting six. He totaled 33 tackles including seven for loss and had 5.5 sacks.

Lynch transferred amidst rumors of an upcoming suspension or dismissal, but Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said it was for personal reasons.
