NHL to cancel games through November 1

Friday October 19th, 2012

The NHL announced today that the league will extend its cancellation of regular season games through November 1st, thanks to ongoing negotiations over a new collective bargaining agreement with the NHL Player's Association. The league had previously cancelled all games up until October 24th, but today extended that another week to include games scheduled to be played before the start of November. The NHL season was due to begin on October 11th, and the latest extension of cancelled games means that 135 contests will have been cancelled thanks to the lockout negotiations.
