Panthers center Stephen Weiss needs wrist surgery, out rest of season

Florida Panthers center Stephen Weiss will undergo wrist surgery that will end his season, according to NHL.com. The team's general manager Dale Tallon made the announcement on Tuesday morning.

Weiss, 29, has had ongoing issues with the wrist all season long which has hampered his performance on the ice. The former first-round (fourth overall) pick has had just one goal and four points in 17 games this season. Weiss scored at least 20 goals in each of the past three seasons. He's gone through recent difficulties including a benching and the death of his grandmother.
