An early season promise may or may not have been the motivating factor in the Louisville Cardinals winning the NCAA basketball tournament, but coach Rick Pitino wasn't about to back down on his deal.

Following a five-overtime loss to Notre Dame that left the Cardinals 7-4 in the Big East in mid-February, Pitino attempted to lift his team's spirits by promising to get a tattoo if they won the national championship.

On Friday morning, Pitino followed through in a surprisingly big way: Louisville sports information director Kenny Klein tweeted photos of a shirtless Pitino displaying his new ink. The tattoo, positioned below his left shoulder includes a Louisville logo and the words "2013 NCAA Champions 35-5."
