Nationals Park, the home of MLB's Washington Nationals, will likely be the host of the 2015 Winter Classic, reports Pierre LeBrun and Scott Burnside of ESPN.com.

The Washington Capitals will host the outdoor game on Jan. 1, 2015, but a stadium has not been announced.  The Capitals also don't have an opponent for the game yet.

The 2014 Winter Classic will be played Wednesday between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Washington D.C. area has at least four suitable venues for the game:  RFK Stadium; FedEx Field, the home of the Washington Redskins; Nationals Park; or even Camden Yards in Baltimore.

While there has still not been any official decision, the source said it's likely that Nationals Park will be the chosen venue because of possible scheduling issues with the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field and because Nationals Park presents a relatively new venue.
