Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin is expected to be the next head football coach at Penn State, reports CBSSports.com's Bruce Feldman.

Franklin would replace Bill O'Brien, who left the school after two years to become the head coach of the Houston Texans.

Franklin, 41, has a 24-15 record in three seasons at Vanderbilt and has led the Commodores to three straight bowls, including a 41-24 victory over Houston in the BBVA Compass Bowl earlier this month.
