Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney ran a 4.47 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis on Monday, according to multiple reports. He ran a 4.48 on his second attempt.
It was later reported that his official time was 4.53.
The former South Carolina star predicted impressive numbers, and he delivered with a time that was faster than 56 running backs and wide receivers who ran the 40 on Sunday, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.
The fastest time for a defensive lineman last season was 4.60 seconds, according to Pro Football Talk.
His 10-yard split of 1.56 was better than the 1.58 average for all the wide receivers at the combine, according to ESPN's Todd McShay.
Clowney measured 6-foot-5 and 266 pounds, with a 34 1/2-inch arm length, at the combine weigh-in. He did 21 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press on Sunday.
