Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller, and forward Steve Ott has been traded to the St. Louis Blues.

The Blues announced that they would send G Jaroslav Halak, RW Chris Stewart and a prospect to the Sabres, along with a future first and third round draft choice in exchange for the duo.

Miller has played his entire career for the Sabres, a total of 540 games, but he is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of this season, and so the team elected to trade him before the deadline rather than allow him walk and receive nothing in return.

Miller told reporters earlier in the week he expected to be traded, according to NHL.com.

"I could take all summer and we could see where everything shakes out, but it seems like it's a risky proposal for both sides," he said. "So right now, it's a business decision, it's not really a personal thing, see where it goes."
