Report: Providence authorities investigating players for sexual assault

Providence, R.I., authorities are investigating a claim by a student at Providence College who says she was sexually assaulted in November by two members of the men's basketball team, according to a report from Matthew Futterman and Rachel Bachman of the Wall Street Journal.
Authorities confirmed to the paper that the alleged victim made a complaint "a couple of weeks ago" and that the department is investigating two men who were students at Providence at the time.

But according to a person with knowledge of the matter, the alleged incident police are investigating involves Rodney Bullock and Brandon Austin, two prized freshman players who were suspended in November from playing in games.
Bullock and Austin were suspended on Nov. 6, three days after the alleged incident for "not upholding their responsibilities as student-athletes." Providence announced on Dec. 23 that the two would be suspended the remainder of the season. Bullock remains on the team, and Austin left the team and enrolled at Oregon.
