Ex-Louisville forward Chane Behanan cited for marijuana possession

Former Louisville forward Chane Behanan was cited for marijuana possession Wednesday morning, reports C.L. Brown of ESPN.com.

According to the reports, Behanan was a passenger in a vehicle that an officer smelled marijuana from and confirmed he had a marijuana cigarette. Behanan was not arrested, but has a court date for later this month.

Behanan was dismissed from the Louisville program on Dec. 30 after he was suspended for violating university policy. It was reported that Behanan had been in Houston being treated for substance abuse problems under former NBA player John Lucas' Wellness and Aftercare program.

Behanan has been enrolled at Colorado State since January.

"I am aware of media reports that Chane has been issued a citation," Colorado State coach Larry Eustachy said in a statement. "We are working to gather more information. Everyone associated with our program is held to a high standard, and that includes personal conduct on and off the court. We work tirelessly to recruit young men of high character who will work hard in the classroom, help our team win and represent CSU well. This news is very concerning."

Last season, Behanan averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds, helping the Cardinals win the national championship.
