Pete DeBoer will remain the head coach of the New Jersey Devils next season, according to Rich Chere of The Star Ledger.

Devils GM Lou Lamorello told reporters on Sunday that DeBoer is under contract and would still be behind the boards next season despite missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year.

"There are rumors going on, a lot of misinformation about our coach. So I thought I'd get really out of character and put this to rest. Pete DeBoer is under contract for next year, has been under contract for next year and will be coaching next year.

"That's all I have to say. We usually wait to make any announcements about anything."
