Ed Reed not retiring: 'I know I can still play'

Free-agent safety Ed Reed is not ready to hang up his cleats.
The 35-year-old Reed told reporters Sunday he is preparing to play next season, though he doesn't have an inkling of which team he'll play with, according to ESPN.com's Jamison Henley.
"Yes, definitely preparing to play," Reed said Sunday at cornerback Lardarius Webb's charity softball game at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, according to ESPN.
"I'm not in any rush at all. I learned a lot about the process last year and I know my worth. I'm taking my time getting myself all the way back to where I want to be. I'll come back down to it somewhere in season. I'll probably wind up somewhere, or not."
Reed said he doesn't plan to sign with a team before training camp, as he works to get fully rested and healthy. Last year, he saw teams eventually needing a safety in the latter part of the season, and if a team comes calling this time, he'll be ready.
Reed struggled last season after signing with the Houston Texans, who eventually released him. He then signed with the New York Jets, where he rejoined the defense spearheaded by head coach Rex Ryan, who served as Reed's former defensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens.
Reed is a nine-time Pro-Bowl selection, and he won a Super Bowl with the Ravens in his last game with the team in 2013.
"I know that I can still play," Reed said Sunday. "It's just a matter of the right fit. If not, you guys probably never see me again."
