Following the success of New England's Sainey Nyassi and Kenny Mansally, young Gambian players have become the in-demand imports in Major League Soccer. On Friday, the New York Red Bulls announced the signing of 18-year-old Gambian international Sainey Touray.

A native of Serrekundea, the 6-foot-1 Touray was previously with Gambian First Division side Wallidan FC, leading the team in scoring with nine goals last season. A one-time trialist at Arsenal, he has been capped at both the under-17 and under-20 levels for his country.

Touray has signed a developmental contract, and to make room for him on the roster, midfielder Sinisa Ubiparipovic was moved to the senior roster.

The Red Bulls play D.C. United on Saturday night at RFK Stadium. Touray is available, though with the Red Bulls riding a three-game winning streak, during which they have scored nine goals, so the odds that Touray will see playing time soon are low.
