Adu's first Belenenses start lasts 45 minutes

Freddy Adu made his first league start for Portugal's Belenenses on Monday but the 20-year-old came off at halftime of a 1-0 loss to Nacional.

Adu suffered a foul from Nacional's Bruno Patacas shortly before halftime that earned Patacas a yellow card and left Adu limping.

Adu played on the frontline and drew a free kick that Jose Pedro sent just high of the goal.

Since joing Belenenses on loan, Adu has appeared in one league game, as a 65th minute sub, and came off the bench in a domestic cup game. --Soccer America
