As it turns out, U.S. national team forward Aron Johannsson is capable of not coming through for AZ Alkmaar, too.

In the midst of a prolific club season, Johannsson missed his second straight penalty kick for AZ, doing so in a Dutch Cup semifinal against Eredivisie-leading Ajax that AZ went on to lose 1-0. His PK take came after Ajax's Joel Veltman was sent off for his second yellow 33 minutes into the match. A minute after AZ also went down to 10 men, when Mattias Johansson was sent off in the 47th, Lasse Schone scored the eventual winner.

AZ was the defending Cup champion, defeating Ajax in last year's semifinal and PSV Eindhoven in the final, as Jozy Altidore scored eight goals in the competition (including the eventual cup winner) to lead all players. Johannsson, who also missed a penalty in Sunday's league victory over PEC Zwolle, remains on 25 goals in all competitions this season, attempting to catch Altidore's single-season record for an American abroad of 31 goals.
