FC Barcelona says Neymar's recovery from a fractured vertebra is progressing "very well," The Associated Press reports.

Neymar suffered the back injury in the closing minutes of Brazil's 2-1 quarterfinal victory over Colombia, when he took a knee to his back from CamiloZuniga.He is Brazil's leading scorer at the World Cup with four goals.

Barcelona said on its website that officials visited Neymar at his home in Brazil, where he will remain until Aug. 5, when he returns to Barcelona to continue the final phase of his recovery.

The club hopes to have Neymar available for its season-opener, which is expected to be scheduled for the end of August.

Brazil lost to Germany 7-1 in the semifinal match. According to The Associated Press, the six-goal margin was its worst loss in its 100-year history, matching the 6-0 defeat to Uruguay in 1920.
