Spanish soccer club Real Madrid is the world's most valuable sports team, according to an analysis released by Forbes on Wednesday.

Valued at $3.44 billion, Real Madrid -- who won its 10th Champions League title in May -- ranks first on Forbes' annual list of "The World's 50 Most Valuable Sports Teams 2014."

Two other soccer clubs, FC Barcelona ($3.2 billion) in Spain and Manchester United ($2.81 billion) in England, round out the top three.

The top American sports team is the New York Yankees, ranking fourth at $2.5 billion. The Dallas Cowboys are fifth at $2.3 billion.

The Oakland Raiders and New York Mets were among three teams that dropped out of the top 50 this year, while the St. Louis Rams, Boston Celtics and Manchester City entered it.

The valuations are based on equity, debt and venue contracts.
