Atlético Madrid to sign forward Antoine Griezmann

Atlético Madrid has reached an agreement with Real Sociedad for the transfer of Antoine Griezmann, the team announced Monday.

The signing is pending Griezmann's physical.

The French forward scored 16 goals for Real Sociedad in La Liga last season. 

The financial terms of the transfer were not announced, but according to AS.com, the transfer fee for the forward is €30 million ($40.1 million).

The 23-year-old has been at Sociedad since he was 13 years old.

Griezmann played in all five of France's matches during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but did not score in the tournament. France lost in the quarterfinals to eventual champion Germany.
