Frank Lampard is set to join Manchester City on loan before he begins his first MLS season with New York City FC in March, according to The Guardian.

The Guardian reports that the former Chelsea midfielder "is set to sign a short-term deal" with Man City after turning down deals from Queens Park Rangers and Melbourne City FC (formerly Melbourne Heart, which was recently purchased by Man City).

NYCFC is a jointly owned by Man City and the New York Yankees. Lampard signed with NYCFC last week, but the team won't play its first game until March, when the 2015 MLS season begins.
