Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said earning one point after two Premier League matches so far this season is not good enough.

United followed its 2-1 loss at home to Swansea in its opener with a 1-1 draw at Sunderland on Sunday.

"We have one point and that is not good enough for Manchester United," van Gaal said to the BBC.  “We have to work a lot. The players are very disappointed after the game because we thought we would win."

Van Gaal said that expectations are high for the club, and he expects to the team to improve.

"Manchester United must show people they are a team to be feared again," van Gaal said. "For large parts of last season, teams treated a fixture against them as just another game."
