Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Landon Donovan broke the MLS all-time record for assists when he set up forward Robbie Keane's volley goal against Toronto FC Saturday night.

The goal gave L.A. a 2-0 lead in the first half. The previous record holder was former New England Revolution star and current Houston Dynamo assistant coach Steve Ralston.

Donovan, who leads the league with 19 assists in 2014, announced earlier this year that he would retire at the end of this MLS season. Donovan also holds the league's all-time goal record with 144.
