USA's Terrence Boyd cleared to return to training with Red Bull Leipzig

U.S. men's national team forward Terrence Boyd has been cleared to return to training after suffering a partially torn ACL over the summer. Both the player and club announced the news via social media.

Boyd suffered the injury in Red Bull Leipzig's preseason friendly against Queens Park Rangers but did not need to undergo surgery. The club has gotten off to a 4-1-4 start through the opening nine games of the 2. Bundesliga campaign.

The international break means the club is off until Oct. 17, when Boyd could make his official club debut against FC Nurnberg.

Boyd, 23, scored 37 goals in all competitions in two seasons with Rapid Vienna in Austria's top flight before making the move to Leipzig. He was on Jurgen Klinsmann's 30-man provisional roster for the World Cup but was one of the final seven cuts and did not make the trip to Brazil.
