Three markets to present cases for MLS expansion team

Three markets will make presentations for an MLS expansion team this week, the league confirmed to on Wednesday. 

Representatives from three cities -- Minneapolis, Las Vegas and Sacramento -- will convene at MLS headquarters in New York on Thursday.

Future expansion plans will be discussed in more detail at the league's Board of Governors meeting on Dec. 6.

MLS is set to launch new clubs in Orlando and New York next season and will add clubs in Atlanta and Los Angeles in 2017. In Miami, a group led by David Beckham is trying to launch a new club and secure a site for a future stadium.

Commissioner Don Garber has said the league, which currently counts 19 teams, hopes to expand its roster to 24 by the end of the decade.
