USA set to host Brazil in September in another high-profile 2015 friendly

The U.S. men’s national team is set to face five-time World Cup champion Brazil in a friendly next September in the United States, has learned.

While a final contract has not been signed, multiple sources described the deal as very close to being done. The game would take place on the second FIFA date in September.

U.S. Soccer has assembled arguably the most difficult schedule in men's national team history for 2015, with friendlies against Chile, Panama, Mexico, Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germany already officially announced. All but Denmark (30th) and Panama (56th) are in the top 20 of FIFA's most recent world ranking.

The U.S. last met Brazil on May 30, 2012, in Landover, Maryland, where the Brazilians prevailed 4-1. The Americans are 1-16-0 all time against Brazil, with the lone win coming in the 1998 Gold Cup behind Kasey Keller's 10 saves and Preki's goal.
