Six months and a day from when he became a U.S. men's national team hero, John Brooks has found the back of the net yet again.

John Brooks turns surprise World Cup showing into USA dream come true

Brooks, the 21-year-old German-American center back, scored his first goal since his dramatic World Cup game-winner against Ghana on Wednesday, opening the scoring for Hertha Berlin against Timmy Chandler's Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

Brooks has enjoyed a first-team resurgence after a demotion to the club's reserves earlier in the season, and he added to it in the 21st minute.

He made like a forward, getting into an advanced position on a set piece and expertly turning home a long free kick from Brazilian midfielder Ronny from about eight yards out with his left foot.

The goal is just the fourth of Brooks' first-team club career. While it didn't have anywhere close to the significance to his header off Graham Zusi's corner kick in the 86th minute of the USA's opening game of the 2014 World Cup, it did give Hertha Berlin a lead as the club looks to win its second straight and continue its ascent up the standings. Entering Wednesday, Hertha Berlin was just three points clear of the relegation zone.

Unfortunately for Brooks and Hertha Berlin, the club conceded in the 90th and 91st minutes to blow a 4-2 lead and settle for a 4-4 draw.
