U.S. women's national team midfielder Megan Rapinoe will be out for several weeks with a strained ligament in her right knee, U.S. Soccer announced Monday.

Rapinoe sustained the injury during training with the U.S. and has been sent home for rehab. The team has been holding a training camp most of this month in Carson, Calif., in preparation for international friendlies at France on Feb. 8 and at England on Feb. 13.

Rapinoe, 29, has earned 96 caps with the national team since debuting in 2006, scoring 29 international goals. She's also played for Seattle Reign FC in the NWSL the past two seasons, helping the team win the regular season title and earn a trip to final of the championship playoff in 2014.
