He was initially scheduled to join Toronto after Juventus completed its Serie A season, but he will now join the club for the start of the 2015 MLS campaign.

In six seasons with Juventus, Giovinco has scored 20 goals with 23 assists in 130 appearances across all competitions.

Giovinco is, for the time being, the team's fourth Designated Player along with the recently signedJozy Altidore, Michael Bradley and Gilberto. MLS teams are currently limited to three DPs, so one of the current trio will need to be moved to make room for Giovinco. Gilberto is rumored to be the odd man out, with reports linking him to Vasco da Gama in his native Brazil.

Giovinco is also a member of the Italian national team and has scored one goal in 21 appearances.

Toronto finished 11-8-15 and in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, missing the playoffs. The club starts the 2015 season on Saturday, March 7, at the Vancouver Whitecaps.
