U.S. women's national team forward Alex Morgan scored her 50th career international goal on Friday against England. 

In the 25th minute, midfielder Lauren Holiday sent a left-footed cross into the box. Morgan headed the ball past the goalkeeper to give the United States a 1-0 lead. 

The goal snapped a 217-minute goal drought for the U.S. The team hadn't scored since the 78th minute of a 7-0 victory over Argentina on Dec. 18. 

Friday's friendly is Morgan's 79th appearance for the United States. Her 50th goal was her seventh scored with her head, according to ESPN's Paul Carr

The U.S. took its 1-0 lead into halftime.
