Egyptian authorities have decided to allow Egyptian Premier League play to resume without fans in attendance, according to the Associated Press

Play is set to resume after a 40-day mourning period following the violence earlier this month.

On Feb. 8, 19 fans at a match in Cairo were killed when police shot tear gas into a narrow corridor, prompting a melee as supporters were trying to enter the stadium.

Play had not been suspended since 2012, when 74 fans were killed in a riot at a match in Port Said, according to the BBC
