Watch: Mix Diskerud, Kaka score NYCFC, Orlando City's inaugural goals.

It took 76 minutes, but the inaugural goal of the New York City FC franchise finally came.

Mix Diskerud received a pass slightly to the left of center at the top of the 18-yard-box before curling a shot to the bottom right corner. The ball snuck through two Orlando City defenders before beating goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts, who never had a chance.

The U.S. National Team midfielder broke a scoreless deadlock that seemed destined to give NYCFC three points on the road, especially after Aurelien Collin was sent off in the seven minutes later for a vicious tackle on David Villa. Orlando City had a few chances in the immediate aftermath, but were unable to find an answer.

Finally, after a Ned Grabavoy foul in the 90th minute gave Orlando City a free kick from 25 yards out, Kaka, one of the world's best midfielders, stepped up. The former Brazilian international fired a shot aiming for the far post, but it was deflected to the near side as a diving Josh Saunders in net could only watch it trickle in to his side.

After each earning a point, Orlando City visits the Houston Dynamo on Friday, while NYCFC hosts 2014 MLS Cup runners-up the New England Revolution on Sunday.
