FIFA confirmed the dates of the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2017 Confederation Cup.

The opening match of the 2018 World Cup will be played June 14, with the second semifinal and final all to be played at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. The first semi-final (July 10) and third-place match (July 14) will be held in Saint Petersburg.

For the Confederations Cup, the opening match (June 17) and finals (July 2) will be in Saint Petersburg.

FIFA to choose 2026 World Cup host in May 2017

The first semifinal will be on June 28 in Kazan, the second semifinal takes place in Sochi on June 29 and the third-place match will be July 2 at Spartak Stadium in Moscow.

Russia automatically qualifies for the Confederation Cup. Germany, who won the 2014 World Cup and Australia, the winners of the Asian Cup have already locked in their spots for the eight-team tournament.

FIFA's executive committee will meet May 30 in Zurich to discuss the dates for the 2018 World Cup and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
