Jordan Morris: From scoring in the Pac-12 to scoring against Mexico.

Given a surprise start for the U.S. men's national team, the 20-year-old Morris, who rejected an offer from the Seattle Sounders to return to Stanford University, broke a scoreless deadlock to give the Americans a 1-0 lead against Mexico at the Alamodome Wednesday night.

Morris, who had threatening runs in the first half go fruitless, pounced on a ball in the attacking third, split a pair of defenders and finished confidently past goalkeeper Cirilo Saucedo in the 49th minute.

Morris's night came to an end in the 65th minute, as he was replaced by Juan Agudelo, who scored the USA's second goal in a 2-0 victory.

The goal was Morris's second in a span of five days–although the other came in a Stanford spring game against Cal Poly Saturday night.
