Jozy Altidore will be out four to five weeks with a strained right hamstring, Toronto FC announced on Tuesday.

The forward suffered the injury in Toronto's game against the New England Revolution on Saturday, and was removed from the match after just 21 minutes. Based on Toronto FC's timeline for the injury, the earliest Altidore could return would be June 16.

The injury will almost certainly rule the forward out of the U.S. national team's two upcoming high-profile friendlies at the Netherlands on June 5 and at 2014 World Cup champion Germany on June 10.

Depending on his recovery and form upon return, Altidore could also be in doubt for the USA's CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign, which begins on July 7 against Honduras.

In addition to national team games, Altidore is likely to miss at least three matches for Toronto, against Portland Timbers, San Jose Earthquakes and D.C. United.

The strain occurred to the opposite hamstring Altidore notably injured while playing for the United States against Ghana at the 2014 World Cup.

Altidore has scored five goals in eight league appearances (all starts) for Toronto FC this season, his first back in MLS after signing from English Premier League side Sunderland in the offseason.
