Just minutes after being on the receiving end of a slide-tackle that sent Colombia goalkeeper Catalina Perez off with red card, the USA's Alex Morgan scored off a shot that deflected off of backup goalkeeper Stefany Castaño and into the top corner of the net, delivering an eventual game-winning goal in a 2–0 victory in the Women's World Cup Round of 16.

The goal, which was Morgan's first for the team since a March 6 Algarve Cup match against Switzerland, put the Americans up 1–0 in the 53rd minute.

Carli Lloyd followed 13 minutes later with a penalty kick, and the USA extended its shutout streak to 333 minutes in reaching the quarterfinals.

The U.S. will face China in a rematch of the 1999 Women's World Cup final on Friday for the right to play either Germany or France in the semifinals.
