Brian, Popp suffer head-to-head collision during USA-Germany

USA's Morgan Brian and Germany's Alexandra Popp suffered a violent head-to-head collision during the Women's World Cup semifinal on Tuesday.

The collision came in the first half with the teams tied 0–0. Both players were going for a header on a free kick in the U.S. box when they banged heads. 

Brian and Popp were attended to by their respective medical staffs, and Popp could be seen with blood on her head and an apparent gash. Both players left the field as the teams briefly played 10-on-10. They returned to the game shortly thereafter. 

The U.S. went on to defeat Germany 2-0 on a penalty kick from Carli Lloyd and an insurance strike from substitute Kelley O'Hara.
