Six-time champion Mexico, defending and five-time champion USA and 10 other sides vie for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup title from July 7-26.
Mexico, playing without the injured Javier Hernandez and Hector Moreno, is aiming to reclaim the region's throne after being ousted in the 2013 semifinals. The USA, meanwhile, can cement its place in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup by winning again in 2015. By virtue of their 2013 title, the Americans are positioned to secure the trip to Russia automatically with another victory, but they'll go to a playoff for the region's berth if they miss out on the trophy this time around.
The region is about more than the two perennial powers, though. 2014 World Cup quarterfinalist Costa Rica brings a veteran squad to the competition; Caribbean nations, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica and Haiti have all raised eyebrows, while Cuba made it through to the knockout stage as well; 2013 finalist Panama still lingers as a tricky out.
