Watch: Empty net gets better of Canada's Cyle Larin in Gold Cup

Watch Cyle Larin's atrocious miss into an empty net for Canada against El Salvador in the Gold Cup.

Cyle Larin, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, has enjoyed a successful first season for Orlando City, with six goals in his first 13 games as a professional. His first CONCACAF Gold Cup, however, is off to a rocky start.

With a chance to break a scoreless deadlock in the 36th minute, Larin received the ball on a breakaway, rounded El Salvador goalkeeper Derby Carrillo and faced a wide open goal at StubHub Center, only to fire his shot well over the bar when a simple roller would have sufficed.

Larin collapsed to the ground in disappointment after the miss, one that could have given Canada the edge in Group B after Costa Rica and Jamaica played to a 2-2 draw in the game that preceded Canada-El Salvador.
