U.S. men's national team defender Fabian Johnson will be out multiple weeks due to a hamstring injury, reports German publication Kicker.

Johnson is also a member of Borussia Monchengladbach of the Bundesliga. He played 90 minutes during his team's 4–0 loss to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

At the recent Gold Cup, Johnson started five games for the United States and recorded one assist. The German-born Johnson has been a member of the USMNT since 2011 after switching his FIFA nationality to the U.S.

The USMNT has multiple games coming up in early September: a Sept. 4 friendly against Peru and a Sept. 8 friendly against Brazil. On Oct. 10, the U.S. will face Mexico at the Rose Bowl in a playoff for a 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup berth.;
