David de Gea's Manchester United teammate Juan Mata says the goal keeper is in good spirits after the transfer debacle that failed to send him to Real Madrid, reportsThe Guardian.

On Monday morning, Manchester United and Real Madrid had reportedly agreed to transfer the 24-year-old goal keeper to Madrid. But because the corresponding paperwork was not submitted by Monday's midnight transfer deadline, the deal could not be completed. Both teams issued statements on Tuesday blaming the other for the delays in contract processing.

When asked how his teammate was responding to the ordeal, Mata said de Gea's naturally calm personality would help him deal with the situation.

“He seems the same as ever to me,” Mata said. ”He’s calm, relaxed. He has a naturally calm personality. These have been difficult days but he is OK. ...He is a friend and he is very professional. I wish him the best and I am sure he will be fine. He will manage the situation.”

De Gea, a Madrid native, arrived in his hometown on Wednesday to prepare with the national team for the Euro 2016 qualifiers against Slovakia and Macedonia.
