FC Kansas City and United States women's national soccer team defender Becky Sauerbrunn has been voted the National Women’s Soccer League Defender of the Year, the league announced Monday.

Sauerbrunn is the first player in NWSL history to earn the honor in three consecutive seasons after claiming it in 2013 and 2014.

The 30-year-old played every minute of the 11 matches she appeared in for FC Kansas City this season. She also played every minute of this year’s World Cup, helping the USWNT earn its record third title this summer.

FC Kansas City finished the regular season with the NWSL’s top-ranked defense, allowing just 20 goals in 20 games.

After finding out that she had earned the honor, Sauerbrunn took to Twitter to thank supporters of the NWSL and recognize the league’s other defenders.
