Liverpool FC has fired manager Brendan Rodgers after three-plus seasons, the team announced Sunday.

Liverpool drew with Everton 1–1 on Sunday to bring their record to 3–2–3 on the young season. It sits 10th in the Premier League standings with 12 points.

Rodgers joined Liverpool in June 2012 and brought them into title contention in his second year. 

“We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Brendan Rodgers for the significant contribution he has made to the club and express our gratitude for his hard work and commitment,” the club said in a statement. “All of us have experienced some wonderful moments with Brendan as manager and we are confident he will enjoy a long career in the game.”

Thierry Henry and former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher learned of the news on live television.

The club announced the search for a new manager is underway.
