Sao Paulo FC: Juan Carlos Osorio will be Mexico's next manager
Former MLS manager Juan Carlos Osorio is leaving Sao Paulo FC to take the reins as the next full-time manager of Mexico's national team, the Brazilian club announced on Tuesday.
Osorio has been heavily rumored in recent days and weeks to be taking the job after Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti's four-game interim stint ends next week. Ferretti will guide El Tri against the USA in Saturday's CONCACAF Cup playoff and then again Oct. 13 in a friendly against Panama in Toluca before yielding control of the national team, which fired Miguel Herrera for getting into an altercation with a journalist after Mexico won the CONCACAF Gold Cup in Philadelphia.

The 53-year-old Osorio is a well-traveled manager, coaching in his native Colombia at Once Caldas, Millonarios and Atletico Nacional. He coached on two MLS sidelines, guiding the Chicago Fire and New York Red Bulls between 2007 and 2009.
He does have experience in Mexico, coaching Puebla (and American DaMarcus Beasley) for the 2012 Clausura campaign.
Osorio will take the helm prior to the start of Mexico's 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign. The Mexicans are grouped with Honduras, El Salvador and Canada in CONCACAF's semifinal round and open the round against El Salvador at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on Nov. 13.
