Fans brawled in Manchester prior to Manchester City’s Champions League match against Sevilla.

In Manchester’s city centre outside Sinclair’s Oyster Bar, a large group of 20–25 men broke out into a full-on melee, hurling chairs and other objects at one another before police were eventually called to the scene.

The Daily Mail reported that police were investigating whether or not the clashes were connected to long-standing spite between fans of Slask Wroclaw, a Polish club, and Sevilla supporters that dates back to a 2013 Europa League game between the two sides. Sevilla and its fans were in town for Wednesday’s match. A police spokesman said the conflict was unrelated to that game, at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester police confirmed to the Mail that four people were arrested and one person was treated at the scene for head injuries.

Manchester City defeated Sevilla later Wednesday by a score of 2–1.
