Regardless of whether Jordan Morris signs with Werder Bremen or accepts the Seattle Sounders' offer and joins MLS after departing Stanford following his junior season, he's faring quite well on his training stint with the Bundesliga club.

Morris, who will extend his trial with Werder Bremen, assisted on Claudio Pizarro's goal in a friendly against Azerbaijan's Inter Baku on Friday, as the club continues training during the Bundesliga winter break. Donning the No. 52, Morris received the ball on the left wing and then put a pinpoint ball off the outside of his right foot into Pizarro's path, and the Peruvian veteran put it away.

Morris's stint at Werder Bremen has been a point of consternation for MLS and U.S. Soccer, with U.S. U-23 manager Andi Herzog reportedly telling a German outlet that the U.S. is trying to push players to Europe (before claiming he was misquoted), and MLS commissioner Don Garber saying at Thursday's SuperDraft that Morris "represents, for us, the future of our league."

The tug of war also sparked critical comments by Portland Timbers owner Merritt Paulson of manager Jurgen Klinsmann, who Paulson said has an "anti-MLS" agenda

Morris was originally slated to end his trial with Werder Bremen on Jan. 20 and join U.S. men's national team January camp, but he has reportedly extended it for a few more days before heading to California.
