He was named to the Professional Footballers Association Team of the Year four times (2003, 2004, 2005, 2011) during his EPL career.

The move is the latest along the back line for the Galaxy, which recently sold U.S. men's national team defender Omar Gonzalez to Mexican club Pachuca. The Galaxy signed veteran Belgian center back Jelle Van Damme on Tuesday.
