Anderlecht’s Najar seeks transfer after Brussels attacks

Anderlecht winger Andy Najar told The Washington Post he wants out of Belgium following the terrorist attacks in Brussels on Tuesday morning.
Najar, 23, was on assignment with the Honduran national team when the attacks occurred, while his wife and two children were in their apartment in Brussels. Najar moved to the United States from Honduras at age 13, attended high school in Alexandria, Va. and came up through the D.C. United development system.
“I’m afraid for my family,” Najar said, according to the Post. “I don’t want anything to happen to them or happen to me. It’s dangerous. I want to be safe. It would be best for me to leave here.”

“In every country, it can happen,” he said. “But Belgium is bad right now. I don’t want this life for my family. I love playing for Anderlecht. It has allowed me to become a better player. But at the moment, I don’t want to go back.”
