La Liga has denounced the anti-gay slurs directed toward Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo during Saturday’s El Clasico against Barcelona, according to the Associated Press.
Ronaldo scored the game-winning goal in the closing minutes of the match to give Real Madrid a 2–1 advantage.
The league expressed its discontent with the anti-gay slurs that were directed at Ronaldo, which were heard as a moment of silence was held for Dutch soccer legend Johan Cruyff. Gay rights groups in Spain have also denounced the slurs.
