Luis Suarez gave Barcelona a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal, tallying a pair of goals 11 minutes apart with the visitors reduced to 10 men.

After Fernando Torres struck first for Atletico in the first half—and was subsequently sent off, giving the hosts a man advantage—Suarez tied the score in the 63rd minute.

As Barcelona menaced in the opposing third, a cross from Dani Alves found Jordi Alba in the box for a volleyed shot directly at Suarez, who easily tapped in a critical goal.

In the 74th minute, Suarez found another Alves cross in the box for the go-ahead header past Jan Oblak, giving Barca the 2–1 lead.
